Take your first step towards empowerment.

CPLC De Colores Domestic Violence programs provides a safe, secure for families to heal from the traumatizing effects of abuse. Shelter and community-based services meet survivors where they are to help them discover their strengths and regain their freedom.

De Colores is the only fully bilingual, bicultural program in the Valley providing tailored services to Spanish-speaking and immigrant populations. Specialized legal services are available to assist with orders of protection, immigration and visa paperwork, and court accompaniment.

A range of supports including emergency shelter, legal advocacy, case management, support groups, sexual assault services, youth programs, and assistance with permanent housing and employment is available. De Colores helps more than 800 survivors become safe and self-sufficient each year.

COVID-19 Update

Homelessness is an extremely common experience for survivors fleeing domestic violence. In 2019, CPLC De Colores connected 224 clients experiencing homelessness with housing as part of their recovery process. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has made it more difficult to serve this population. CPLC De Colores has responded by partnering with other organizations and using technology to continue to meet our clients' needs despite these setbacks.

At the De Colores Shelter, we have reduced our bed space in order to account for social distancing and reserve quarantine space. Unfortunately, this reduces shelter space for homeless families and those families that are homeless due to domestic violence. One way that De Colores and the DV community in Maricopa County are handling this is to increasing bed space by using local hotels as overflow space. Now that all of our shelter spaces have no capacity, families seeking shelter will have the ability to be placed in a hotel and receive case management and advocacy services from our staff. We will also be able to ensure that these families have the sufficient nutrition and hygiene supplies needed.

We have also increased advocacy to families in our housing intervention programs (Transitional Housing and Rapid Rehousing) by providing easier access to food boxes. We continue to provide emotional support, virtual groups, case management and legal advocacy remotely. We have assessed our clients’ needs for utility assistance, and we have reevaluated our clients rental subsidy agreements and adjusted their rental payment portions based on their financial situation. If a client has been negatively impacted due to COVID-19, such as losing a job, reduced hours, cannot find a job, or cannot work due to lack of childcare, we have supported them with increased rental subsidy payments and contniue to monitor their case on a month to month basis.

“I got my freedom back.”

How you can help

Families often arrive at De Colores with little but the clothes on their backs. Donations of basic household supplies and toiletries help provide for families’ basic needs so they can focus on healing. Visit our Amazon Charity Wish List to see our current needs and make a donation

Furniture donations are accepted in partnership with Furnishing Dignity. Furniture is given to shelter residents as they exit the shelter and begin life in a new home. To schedule a furniture pickup, visit furnishingdignity.org/in-kind-donation and enter “CPLC De Colores” for the field “How did you hear about Furnishing Dignity.”

Your gift of any amount provides counseling, support, housing, and healing for survivors to heal and live a life free from violence. Donates to CPLC De Colores are eligible for the Arizona QCO tax credit.
